This post is the fourth in a 10-part blog series to not only get you ready for that dream job interview, but put you on notice for how you are going to make it happen!
Ten Questions You Should Never Stop Asking
What is my perfect job? My dream job?
If you are like most of us who work for a living, especially those struggling in the highest rate of unemployment in 26 years, there are two things you want more than anything else:
- To find the work that you are naturally gifted to, that you are passionate about and which brings you joy.
- To live a life of prosperity in every way.
Some may say that you couldn’t know your dream job until you were in your dream job. Or, that finding your dream job is a pipe dream, won’t happen.
What comes to mind when you ask yourself this question. Does the ink start to avalanche onto paper because you are so full with ideas that you can’t get them down fast enough? Or, are you the proverbial deer in headlights – stuck for an answer?
When the answer to this question does not roll off your tongue, you owe it to yourself to find this answer. It is a myth that only a lucky few get to do their passion for work. Everyone has a perfect fit job that is their dream job. And it is out there waiting for you to claim it.
§ What is it that you can do for hours on end and not tire?
§ What have you done in the past that you thoroughly enjoyed (even if it wasn’t a real job)? Time flew by and you were lost for hours focusing on the task at hand?
§ What type of work environment is most stimulating for you?
§ What kind of boss do you work well with?
§ If you are a manager, do you do well managing a big team or a small team of people?
§ Do you need flexibility in your work schedule?
§ Are their extra curricular activities outside of work that you enjoy like volunteering, continuing education, etc., that an employer could support you in.
Possibly you’ve heard someone talk about their job and found yourself drawn in to their story, perhaps a little envious of what they do for work? Pay attention to these opportunities to learn more about what it is that get’s you excited and keeps you interested.
When our talents are not evident as with an artist, an athlete, or a doctor for example, we are hard pressed to come up with what is our best fit job or dream job. It takes awareness on our part along with a fair amount of digging and study to figure this out for ourselves.
But it exists for you, and you owe it to yourself to find ‘it’. Everyone deserves to pursue a life of prosperity in every way, and a prosperous life begins with doing meaningful, productive work that brings you joy.
