CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 15, 2009 - Marilyn L. Carpenter, Certified Business Coach and former Executive Sales Leader of a local technology company announces the publication of her new book, Open Sesame: Why It’s All About ACCESS for the New Worker of the 21st Century. Carpenter’s book speaks to workers who weren’t among the lucky ones who knew at the age of
ten what they wanted to be when they grew up as well as to the millions of workers hit hard by the recession who now desire to reinvent themselves.
The only book of its kind, Open Sesame is written against the backdrop of our global age and speaks directly to the post-2008 recession and current job market. In a sea of books that have been written to help companies survive and thrive the recession, finally, Open Sesame is the life boat that delivers real answers for the worker. In it Carpenter aims to change beliefs about work and reveal truths about the worker, their talents and the power they have to find and do meaningful, productive work and live a
prosperous life. “This book is first a newsflash: If you aren’t in the job you are passionate about, you can be. Second, it’s an invitation for you, the worker, to do the work and change your life, once and for all,” said Carpenter.
Open Sesame busts myths about what work is for many - a grind, a paycheck, the worst part of the day - and leads the worker to redefine work as a source of joy. “There is a real opportunity here for workers to find the work they are uniquely suited for, their dream job, and become an irreplaceable talent as a result of the work they put into this process,” Carpenter challenges. “When the economy collapsed, so many people turned to me and others for help and coaching. This book became about telling the
raw truth – digging deeper to become unstuck, lose the fear and quit the struggle.”
The book is supported by a website and a blog (www.opensesameaccess.com and OSAccess.net, respectively), where workers who want to move into this coaching process of self development can join a community of like-minded individuals to learn from others, share their stories, and make connections to gain ACCESS to their targeted list of potential employers like never before.
